Going Through Airport Security

We just came back from vacation to the Paradisus Playa La Carmen in the Mayan Riviera.  We had a fabulous time.  They were having a heat wave at the time.  At 7:30am, it was 103'F.  The humidity was almost unbearable.  Both my husband and I developed heat rash.  However, I was in my glory......  I had almost no pain.  It was wonderful being virtually pain free!  It was the best 8 nights and 9 days I could ever ask for.   If we could, my husband and I would move to Mexico just because it has such a positive influence on my TMJ.

How many of you who travel and have had a TMJ replacement get nervous every time you have to go through security at the airport?  I know it is so silly and stupid, but I always worry about setting off the security machines with the screws in my jaw.  I have dreams about the alarms going off.  I have never set if off, but I am always nervous about it.

Here are a few pictures from my trip.....

I have not had my joint replacement set off the metal detector at the airport, but on my last trip from Victoria to Edmonton for a follow-up appointment with my surgeon the woman on the scanner looked very intently at my bag, scanning it many times before calling a supervisor over to look also, scanning it a few more times. The supervisor asked me if it was my bag, asked me to unzip it, and told me to step back. She opened it and took out my Therabite. She asked what it was, when I told her she looked pretty skeptical and asked me to demonstrate how it worked. I wonder if the scanner will ever get another Therabite coming through. Unlikely!
